How To Bypass Bloomberg Paywall and Read Articles For Free

Are you an avid reader of the news?

Well, if so then the chances are you’ve encountered several hiccups while accessing some of the best news sites there are which also includes Bloomberg. Trust me, we’ve all struggled with how to bypass Bloomberg and read articles for free but I’m here to tell you some good news: there’s a way through which you can bypass Bloomberg’s paywall.

And the best part? It is totally legal and in this article, we’ll teach you how to do that. So let's get into it.

What is a Paywall on Bloomberg?

While a Paywall isn’t only on Bloomberg. Nearly all good websites employ a Paywall. This is because having a paywall allows them to earn extra cash through which they can further support their mission of uncovering some of the world’s important topics.

In addition, by having a Paywall, websites do not have to rely heavily on ads to earn revenue which at times destroy the reading experience of a platform and distract readers.

So in all cases, Paywall is indeed a great strategy for any renowned website to have. But for researchers, students, and readers, it is virtually impossible to pay for all these websites in order to access their content. This is why, having the chance to bypass the Bloomberg paywall and read articles for free is something that’s not a bad choice.

Who are the readers of Bloomberg?

The majority of Bloomberg’s readers are people affiliated with the finance sector because, at the core of its mission, Bloomberg was founded to cover financial news.

However, over the years, Bloomberg has increased its mission and now it covers politics, sports, and current affairs.

Is it illegal to bypass the Bloomberg paywall and read articles for free?

No. It is absolutely not illegal to bypass the Bloomberg paywall and read the articles for free. However, it is really important not to overdo it. That means if you read more than 6 articles daily on the Bloomberg site and are bound by Bloomberg’s news, then it is important you subscribe to it.

But if that’s not the case and you occasionally stumble upon Bloomberg then it is fine for you to bypass the paywall.

Is it really worth it to bypass Bloomberg’s paywall and read articles for free?

Yes. It is quite worth it to bypass Bloomberg’s paywall and read its articles for free because, over the years, Bloomberg has defined what effective journalism looks like. It has covered some of the controversial cases out there, and presented to the audience in a very subtle and neutral manner.

All in all, Bloomberg is one of the most renowned news sites, and reading its articles will help you build a strong understanding of a subject.

So yes, Bloomberg is quite worth it.

How much does Bloomberg charge for its subscription in 2023?

Bloomberg has different rates in 2023.

Its main Digital account costs $1.99 per month and after 3 months it becomes $34.99.

You can also subscribe to its yearly plan which is $149 for 1 year or $12.42/month.

By subscribing to Bloomberg, you get unlimited digital access to Bloomberg.com and its app. This allows you to listen to Bloomberg’s radio, podcast, articles and so much more.

Bloomberg also has a Group subscription for 50 accounts, however, to know its price, you have to request Bloomberg for a quote.

Is it possible to bypass Bloomberg’s paywall in 2023?

Yes, it is completely possible to bypass Bloomberg’s paywall in 2023 and this article covers several ways through which one can bypass the paywall and read articles for free.

How to bypass the Bloomberg paywall and read articles for free:

The following are the ways through which you can bypass Bloomberg’s paywall and read articles for free. These include:

1: Ask a subscriber friend:

As crazy as it sounds, you can ask your subscriber friend to send you a free article to read. This is because, for every paid subscriber, Bloomberg gives 5 gift articles to the users. Now it's completely up to the member on what they decide to do and most of it just never shares with anyone.

So if you know anyone who uses Bloomberg, you can simply ask them. And if you don’t, I recommend making the best use of social media, and asking around people because you never know who might be a member within your friends circle. Even if that doesn’t work, you can directly ask people in the comment sections of Bloomberg's posts.

While this isn’t the best method that's out there, it still works and will help you gain access to the article you wish to read!

2: Using BNN Bloomberg:

Did you know Canada also has Bloomberg but it operates with a slightly different name known as BNN Bloomberg. And what’s really amazing about BNN Bloomberg is that the site is completely free from any paywalls.

use BNN Bloomberg

Now, I know you’re not in Canada but it's time you make the most of it.

Simply copy the headline of the article that you want to read and paste it on BNN Bloomberg’s search bar. Or just add BNN Bloomberg at the end of the headline of the article you want to read on Google search and it will automatically appear.

Free, simple, and effective method!

3: Reader Mode:

If you’re a Chrome user then you’re in absolute luck because Reader Mode has got you covered.

Reader Mode is an extension designed to give readers a seamless and distraction-free environment to complete their reading tasks without having to worry about anything else.

However, while creating this seamless and distraction-free environment, the extension automatically removes the Paywall pop-up and lets you read countless articles on a paywall-locked Bloomberg for free.

The best part of it all? Reader Mode is one of the well-recommended extensions on Chrome since it works without any hassle.

4: Using Incognito mode:

Welcome back to the basics!

While using an incognito mode is no brainer but it works smoothly on Bloomberg and is highly recommended. Every browser has an incognito mode so you don’t have to download any browser but just keep on using the existing one that you have.

With that, you can open up Bloomberg and continue reading the articles where you left them or the new ones that you want to read. However, keep in mind, you only have 3 articles to read for free. Once that’s done, you will have to close the incognito mode and re-open it which will give you another 3 articles for free.

So that’s a little bummer you’ll have to face.

5: Using ChatGPT

ChatGPT isn’t only great with writing articles and solving some code challenges but there’s a lot more that it can do and that also includes giving you access to Bloomberg’s article. However, this isn’t the most recommended method that’s out there because ChatGPT only gives you a summary of the article instead of the entire article. S

So if you’re looking at what there is within an article, then this method will work absolutely great for you.

To do this, follow the steps:

  • First copy the link and the headline of the article you want ChatGPT to summarize.
  • Then head to chatGPT and add the prompt: Summarize this article [headline] [link].
  • Wait a few seconds and let ChatGPT do its magic.

However, it is important to keep in mind that ChatGPT is constantly updating its privacy policies so this method may or may not work till the end of the year.

6: Removepaywall:

This site offers a good solution to let you read Bloomberg. However, I wouldn’t say this is a permanent fix but rather a short one. The site is great at helping you find free articles or letting you bypass the paywall. Other than Bloomberg, the site claims to work for more than 27 sites, so yes, this one is worth considering!

read articles using removepaywall website and chrome extension

The great thing about this site is, it doesn’t restrict you to access Bloomberg from your own desktop or download an app or an extension. Therefore giving you a hassle-free solution!

7: 12 ft-ladder:

As the name suggests, 12 ft ladder is a way to climb up the paywall and let you access Bloomberg's article without having to pay for it. This is a great site, much better than remove-paywall.

The way this site works is pure magic if anything. This is because once you enter the link to the article you want to read, 12ft Ladder makes you look like you’re a Google search engine rather than a user and since websites allow Google search engines to cross their platform, particularly for SEO purposes, you can easily access these sites.

It honestly doesn’t get any better than this!

8: Making the most of unusual whales:

Unusual Whales is a news aggregator and if it finds there’s something of importance mainly to its financial readers, it publishes the paid article on its platform, giving you free access to the article. Of course, this isn’t the best solution out there because it only works on news that is of high importance.

To see if unusual whales have published an article or not, you should head out to the website unusual whales. Later, see their homepage for the article you’re looking for.

You can also type in the headline of the article you’re interested in and then add Unusualwhales at the end. If they have published that article, then the chances are you will easily find it.

9: Use of VPN and Tor:

Lastly, in order to access Bloomberg, there’s no better place than to use a VPN or a Tor Browser. This is because a VPN and Tor will keep on changing your IP address, confusing Bloomberg’s paywall and giving you access to countless free articles.

If your VPN or Tor browser does not change your IP address after some time, it is better you restart it or head to the settings page and activate the auto IP address change bar.

Bottom Line:

Paywalls are a great way for websites to monetize their work and in a world where the subscription model is taking place, news websites like Bloomberg have every right to put a paywall. However, there are several times when the reader is not native to Bloomberg or not their active reader but they’re there because of Google search. In such a case, it is perfectly fine for the readers to bypass the article and read it for free.

The above-mentioned are some of the ways that can help you achieve just that, however, it is also important to keep in mind that overdoing it may not directly impact you but it might hurt the website. So if you’re someone who actively reads Bloomberg, it is important you rather pay for it.
